It has the reputation of being the oldest folk festivals acclaimed internationally. It is conducted in the month of August every year. It is believed to reunite the 5 continents. Les Nuits Romanes: The festival happens in every Charente town. The festival takes place throughout the months of June, July and August and the entry is free. The festival is based on the historical sites and Romanesque churches. Jazz bands, classical concerts, trapeze artists and modern dancers from all over the country perform at the festival.
