Events in Limousin Bustling with Activities Round the Year

The authentic French province of Limousin is full of activities round the year. Village festivals, medieval celebration and music events fill the calendar of events. There is no dearth of events at Limousin, Charente and Dordogne, be it the night markets, Knife festival, Nontron Fete, Confolens World Festival or Historical Celebrations, the place is soaked in festivity round the year, making it the best events destination in the world.

St Bazile Festival: People from South-West France make their way into St Bazile for the Summer festival conducted annually. The festival celebrates the rural living and visitors can find a lot of stalls busy selling local crafts and produces. The camel and donkey rides are famous here. Here people dress in nightshirts, clogs, cotton caps and masks and carry with them bellows. They parade down the streets of Nontron. This is a carnival celebration dating back to the Middle Ages to symbolize the age old tradition of cleaning the city air and freeing it from bad spirits using the bellows.

De Confolens Festival: The festival is in practice for over 50 years and has over 200,000 visitors from all parts of the world. It has the reputation of being the oldest folk festivals acclaimed internationally. It is conducted in the month of August every year. It is believed to reunite the 5 continents. The celebration marks the union of world culture. During the festival dance, songs, crafts and music play an important role.

Les Nuits Romanes: The festival happens in every Charente town. The festival takes place throughout the months of June, July and August and the entry is free. The festival is based on the historical sites and Romanesque churches. Jazz bands, classical concerts, trapeze artists and modern dancers from all over the country perform at the festival. The event takes place across Poitou-Charentes.

Urbaka Street Festival: The festival happens in Limoges and was attended by 10,000 people in June 2017. During the festival 100 performers take street theatre, circus, mime and dance.

Correze events: This is particularly for food lovers. The strawberry fair is the most popular in Beaulieu sur Dordogne markets. Music enthusiasts are sure to lose their heart at the Brive Festival and Festival de la Vezere.

Haute-Vienne: Limoges boasts of a number of festivals to keep the tourists busy round the years. Some of these include Urbaka festival, Cartoon festival by the International Press in St Just le Martel and food events like the La Frairie des Petits Ventres.

Les Francophonies en Limousin is celebrated across French speaking part of the world. It is highly popular in Africa. The event happens during the months of September and October in Limousin particularly in Limoges. The festival is an amalgamation of genres like jazz, music concerts, reggae, dance shows, theatre, concerts, author meets and readings. It starts with an artistic celebration of street performances, games, catering stands and concerts. The festival is fun for people of all age groups. The city of Limoges comes alive with this festival creating a friendly atmosphere.

The festival came into existence in the year 1984 and since then hundreds of authors, artists, directors and musicians were welcomed.
